Esquire Magazine's 2012 Best Dressed Judging Night

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 3:11 PM

As you all know, I have been chosen as one of the finalist for this year's Esquire Magazine's 2012 Best Dressed Real Man based on this picture sent for the nomination (no high hopes and just for fun!). It was taken in Bristol, earlier this year during my holiday

The judging night was held at Parkson, The Pavilion and hopefully this is my lucky no. 35!

On the judging night, we have to dress up for 2 categories: casual and semi formal. For the casual look, I channeled a vintage Wimbledon-chic characterised by Fred Perry's sneakers, yellow Jaspal short sleeved shirt, brown Seed shorts, Esprit striped belt and a pair of H & M shades

For semi casual, I opted for high and low combo of white long sleeves Jaspal shirt, Cole Haan belt, another H & M corduroy pant (in blue color this time) and Raoul shoes

what do you guys think?

Choco Block

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 12:18 AM

For this Choco Block inspired look, I wore a G2000 work shirt, together with a matching MNG belt, black H & M pant  and Fred Perry shoes.

Chanelling Inner Brit Street Style with Red Cath Kidston Bag

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 10:17 AM

I truly adore the Brits' cool sense of fashion because they are quirky, colorful and full with i-dont-care attitude. When I was in London, I had the opportunity to shop at the iconic Selfridges and I bought this fun looking Cath Kidston bag. For a more formal look, I teamed up with my Zara printed purple long sleeves shirt, black Esprit belt and Red Russell shoes. And as a weekend bag, together with my fave William Liew long sleeves t-shirt, blue Zara jeans and red Zara shoes to complete the informal look

The Bargain Hunter Takes Paris & London!

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 6:03 PM

In this month of February, I got the rare opportunity to visit two of the top capital fashion cities in the world, Paris & London! It was a surreal experiance for me cause I got the chance to walk the streets, see the places and feel the passion for fashion in both cities. Due to the winter, I traveled lightly wearing the same Zara belted black coat that I bought in KL, the blue corduroy H & M pant and my favorite yellow boots by Timberland. The shades are from H & M & a blue green Coach sling bag completed the look

The Bargain Hunter on Holiday

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 10:13 PM

I am so much in needs to have a long holiday and I remember taking this picture at Odaiba City in Tokyo. This spring ensemble includes grey Zara wool jacket, orange sneakers from Topshop and Energy jeans. The added bright colours on the shoes and muffler scarf was essential in the otherwise rainy and gloomy day

The Bargain Hunter @ Work

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on at 10:00 PM

A lot of you guys are asking me on how do I incorporate the Go Bargain looks at the office because of my tendencies towards bright colors like this pink G2000 shirt. Well, first of all just get a black pant as this Seed to tone down the color and add some brown accessories like the just-bought MNG belt and Andrea Camelli Firenzi shoes. There you go, a simple yet cheerful but most importantly much affordable ensemble at the office!

GO BARGAIN!

High Vs Low

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 2:05 AM

It's very refreshin to see every now and then stars are just like us, mixin the high and low like Drew Barrymore's "gorgeous $25 metallic-printed 3/4-sleeve shift dress from a thrift store paired with $760 Yves Saint Laurent "Tribute" pumps"

and every now and then, I go to FOS or Reject Shop to find cheap nice clothing, get them  altered at Berjaya Times Square Level 8's Auntie (that's what we called our fave tailor ) and voila! a well fitted. For example, this XL pink checked shirt that I bought for RM20 and got it altered for an M size for RM10. The total cost=RM30. How cool was that?

and paired it with my beloved 40% discount Prada loafers, of course, for a so called high and low fashion:)

An Orange Day

There is nothing more appropriate than a simple white shirt and jeans to highlight the orange Zara sneakers!

CUCI The Musical

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 6:01 PM

I got the chance to watch CUCI The Musical last night at Istana Budaya and it was surprisingly my first visit ever. What can I say, it was an entertaining play. Simple screenplay but a great chemistry among the actors. If we have an equivalent award like the Tony, I had Adibah Noor, AC Mizal & Awie in mind as the supporting actress and actors nominations respectively. I didnt have much time to think about what to wear so I just recycled (as the mighty Anna Wintour also promotes!) my Esprit Cardigan over a checkered shirt on top and a combination of Zara jeans and Adidas sneakers at the bottom. Thanx Jude for the free ticket. It was a blast!

Didn't know that a blue checked shirt goes well with a pink striped cardigan!

Teluk Belanga

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 1:45 PM

You guys already knew that Im not fond of wearing the traditional baju Melayu but for my company's open house for Hari Raya and with the conjuction of Friday prayer, I had borrowed my friend's Teluk Belanga which was sewed by a friend of his, a student from UITM for only RM50! I didnt wanna it to be stiffeningly formal so I opted for an all red accessories of Sampin and my Zara sneakers. A rock on Hari Raya, eh?

Man in Red

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 2:47 PM

Today is my b-day and I was decked in a red ensemble (discounted of course, you know me!) for my lunch and dinner celebrations. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by good people in my life including my colleagues who gave all sorts of these presents. Lovely thoughts. Thank you very very very much!

ChicNCheap on Holiday

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 4:37 PM

(Thanks for the readers who have asked me if I ever put on more casual looks so this thread is some sort of the proper answer)

Most of us would rather travel in style but I did Bangkok in ChicNCheap with my friends earlier earlier this year. As seen here waiting the train traveling from Silom to the exciting Chatuchak market in RM20 H&M t-shirt found at the Reject Shop, an RM30 Billabong knee length short bought from FOS, a pair of 50% discount Armani Exchange slippers and the ever favorite monogram Gucci tote for a high-low mix and match

The Stripes

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at 1:35 AM

When you love fashion, you will try your very best to look good in any occasions, just for fun. All dressed up for my birthday dinner at Chatz Brasserie, The Park Royal Kuala Lumpur, I debuted all the stuff that I bought during the sale carnival except the Adidas sneakers. Initially, I wanted to done my brown Zara sneakers to match with the brown Chloe tote but I opted out for an all colorful The Stripes ensemble that include the blue striped sneakers, red and white striped Esprit belt and yellow lining Kwan long sleeves shirt

Colour Block/ Brown Skinny Zara Corduroy

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 11:56 PM

I almost forgot that I have this 50% discount brown skinny Zara corduroy so as usual, I will make use the most out of it by pairing it with my 50% off pink Esprit polo and lime green Zara espadrilles for a shopping trip and later

I paired it with my floral Ikka that I found from FOS short sleeves shirt for the annual breaking fast organized by my ex-school mates at Kelab Darul Ehsan. I think tugged out floral shirt was appropriate because the environment was kindda garden-ish and informal, relaxing.

Who says you cant have fun colour blocking with discounted items?

How To Work Your Mango Tango Orange Crocs Part Deux

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on at 1:06 PM

I found my "vintage" Wrangler beggy skateboarding-ish jeans circa 2005 and decided to channel Katie Holmes' infamous boyfriend's jeans look just for a laugh after buying my delicacies for breaking fast and teaming up with the ever ridiculous Crocs and my MTV limited edition t-shirt for a touch of sloppy matchy matchy kind of orangish/yellowish ensemble

Hush Hush!

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 7:16 PM

Nothing more exciting than dressing up casually to work like there was nothing wrong by mixing and matching between formal ( a tugged in collared T from CK Jeans for RM30 from the Reject Shop) and informal (Adidas sneakers). Well, at least I went to work!

Lazy Day

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 7:20 PM

For a lazy day Wednesday, I just put on a discounted RM70 blue striped Dockers found at Sogo, an RM20 white pleated Padini shirt and a matching black shoes and belt. White shirts are useful as the natural color for light colored pants

Sweet Suede

Posted by The Bargain Hunter on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 8:57 AM

I seriously need to have more suede belt like this Guess to pair with the large khakis Zara suede bag and a matching Penguin batik inspired print shirt

How do you make an outfit with your awkward looking orange Crocs? Well, I injected it with some much needed colours with my Zara pink t-shirt, Zara jeans and CK Jeans yellow sweater for my midnight Harry Potter show and of course my beloved Gucci
